Superintendent Update: Community Update

Dear D7 families,

I wanted to take this opportunity to follow up from my previous message regarding the tragic death of a D7 student Friday night. Our district crisis team convened over the weekend to prepare to receive students today and support their social and emotional needs as we all work to process what has occurred.

I simply cannot say enough about the professionals who came together over the weekend in order to prepare to receive students. They have dedicated themselves to ensuring that students feel supported and safe in their school environment. We have also been blessed to receive additional staff support from our neighboring districts.

We continue to reach out to the victim's family and respect their wishes in terms of the information we share. If/when details regarding funeral arrangements become available, we will share them. In the meantime, I am including links to resources for families should you need assistance in talking to your child regarding this painful topic. Please continue to hold the young man's family in your thoughts.
