🌼 May Health Newsletter 🌼

🌟 Welcome, May!

As we step into May, the sunshine lasts longer, flowers are blooming, and excitement for summer break is building! This month, we’re focusing on nurturing mental health, preventing injuries, and preparing for a safe, healthy summer ahead.

🧠 Mental Health Awareness Month

May is a reminder to check in on ourselves and each other. Mental health matters just as much as physical health. Remember to:
✔️ Talk openly about emotions
✔️ Take breaks from screens
✔️ Try mindfulness or journaling
✔️ Reach out to a trusted adult or counselor when needed

☀️ Summer Safety Prep

School’s almost out! Here’s how families can get ready for a healthy summer:
🏖️ Use sunscreen daily (SPF 30+ recommended)
🚲 Wear helmets while biking or skating
💧 Stay hydrated during playtime
🐜 Be cautious of ticks and mosquitos

🧼 Handwashing & Hygiene Reminders

As allergy season and cold viruses float around, handwashing continues to be a powerful tool for staying healthy.
✋ Scrub for 20 seconds
🧻 Cough/sneeze into elbows
🚽 Wash hands after using the restroom and before meals

🍎 Nutrition Tip of the Month: Eat the Rainbow!

Add a variety of colorful fruits and veggies to your lunches:
🔴 Red: Strawberries, bell peppers
🟠 Orange: Carrots, oranges
🟢 Green: Cucumbers, broccoli
🔵 Blue/Purple: Blueberries, grapes

Eating different colors = different nutrients!
